Scholarship Guide for the degree programs offered in Estonia

Estonian government and universities have initiated various scholarship schemes in order to support international students who are interested in studying in Estonia. Please choose suitable section according to your study interest

Needs-based study allowances for all students

The aim: The aim of needs-based study allowance (hereinafter study allowance) is to provide assistance to students, whose households are unable to support them, motivate them to study full time and successfully and complete a curriculum during nominal period of study.

Amount: (Bachelors & Masters €220-€75, Doctoral €422)

Applications can be submitted during the whole semester, not only for a month as so far. The allowance will be paid starting from the month of submission of the application, therefore it is recommended to submit the application in the first month of the semester – in September or in February.

Applying for study allowance

An application for study allowance can be submitted in the state portal www.eesti.ee by a student who has Student Residence Permit and already opened an Estonian Bank account

Skype Scholarships

The aim: the purpose of Skype and IT Academy Master’s Scholarship (Scholarship) is to support the studies of excellent Master`s students of Cyber Security or Computer and Systems Engineering at Tallinn University of Technology or Software Engineering or Informatics at University of Tartu.

Scholarship amount: In the academic year 2015/2016, the total amount of the Scholarship is €52 000 and 8 scholarships will be awarded. The amount of one scholarship is €6500 (for 10 month).

Specialty Scholarships

The aim: every year the IT Academy gives away a total of €800 000 as scholarships to Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students at the Tallinn University of Technology and the University of Tartu. The scholarship will be issued twice a year in October and February.

Scholarship amount: In the academic year 2015/2016, the amount of the scholarship for master student is €300 per one month (altogether scholarship is awarded for one academic year).

Bachelor’s and Master’s students need to apply for these scholarships through the universities and PhD students receive it automatically.

TUT University Scholarships

International Business Administration, International Relations, European Asian studies.

Tallinn School of Economics and Business Administration, TUT provides scholarships for international students of the following Master’s programmes: International Business Administration, International Relations and European-Asian Studies. One scholarship is 100% of the reimbursements of study costs during two years of studying at nominal study load.

Scholarships will be awarded to:

  1. one international student residing in Estonia who is starting to study International Business Administration full time at TUT.
  2. one international student residing in Estonia who is starting to study International Relations and European-Asian Studies full time at TUT.

The Application Deadline for the scholarship is 31st May.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs scholarships

Ministry of Foreign Affairs offers a limited number of scholarships for Tallinn University of Technology´s Master study candidates from targeted countries (including Pakistan). Since it is Tallinn University of Technology who submits application to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then the exact number of scholarships available for 2016 will be announced in February.

The scholarship is granted for 2 years (nominal study period of Master´s studies) with monthly allowance of 400 EUR which is paid throughout the academic year from September 1 until June 30.

Stipends are available for following Master´s programmes:

  1. Technology Governance
  2. Environmental Engineering and Management
  3. Industrial Engineering and Management
  4. E-Governance Technologies & Services
  5. Health Care Technologies.

To apply for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs scholarship, please send your motivation essay to study@ttu.ee. Final deadline to send in your motivation essay is 1st of May 2016.
